Phil and Sara are in their early sixties and have three sons and one grandchild. Sara was a teaching assistant before she retired in 2015 and Phil owned the 4th largest valeting company in the UK before he retired in 2017.
Why did you need financial advice?
“A few years ago, there was an issue to do with the pension at the company I ran. The financial adviser we were working with acknowledged his mistake and introduced us to Chris. I was impressed with Chris’ knowledge and his straight-forward manner, so I engaged him for the business and to advise on my personal finances.”
How did we help?
“Chris dealt with the issue to do with the company pension and went on to sort out my personal pension.
When it came to selling the business, we asked for his advice on what to do with the capital from the sale. We were apprehensive about where to place the money; we were not used to having this level of wealth, so we didn’t want to make a mistake with it or be ripped off.
Sara and I feel 100% safe with Chris, so we’re confident that he’s given us sound advice on how to invest the capital and use the income from my shareholding.”
How have you benefited from financial advice?
“Working with Chris is a huge burden from our shoulders; we know that our investments are well taken care of and our money is as safe as it can be. We could well make more money by ‘playing the stock market’ but we would rather spend our time enjoying retirement!
Chris is very good a putting himself in our shoes. He has a way of explaining complex things in layman’s terms, clearly outlining the pros and cons of different approaches, so that we can decide on the best action without feeling out of our depth.
We have comfort in knowing that Chris is always acting in our best interests; he genuinely treats our money as if it’s his own. When he speaks to us, we feel as if we’re his only client, and that’s a real strength.
He’s straight without being pushy and we appreciate the ability to use him as a sounding board. For example, we recently asked for his view on how we should pay for our new motorhome.
Most importantly, Chris gives us the security to spend our money and enjoy our retirement.
Chris is not just someone you invest with; we consider him to be a friend, and we know that he’ll be there to advise us and our family over the long-term. We will always recommend him to people who want to safeguard what they’ve got.”
